Empowering Financial Education with MNB-EduLab: The Beconomist Case Study

How the Hungarian National Bank’s EduLab transformed access to quality economic & finance learning through an innovative, user-friendly platform

MNB-EduLab Nonprofit Kft. was established as a subsidiary of the Hungarian National Bank with the aim of developing and providing quality, digital teaching materials for those interested in economic topics – from university students to experienced professionals.

MNB-EduLab Nonprofit Kft. actively contributes to the
development of Hungarian financial culture by operating
the Hungarian Money Museum.

o support diverse learning needs, MNB-EduLab sought a
flexible platform for its online initiative, Beconomist
(www.beconomist.hu).

This platform aimed to provide high-quality, accessible
content on finance and economics for a variety of users.
After two years of success, new challenges emerged:

  • Attracting and engaging occasional visitors with valuable content immediately upon arrival.
  • Improving usability and navigation to facilitate topic-based searches and create a seamless experience.
  • Accommodating academic demands from higher education institutions seeking to incorporate content for both Hungarian and international students.

In collaboration with MNB-EduLab, we tailored the
Webuni platform to meet these evolving needs:

For Occasional Visitors:

  • Created a video-centric landing page to capture visitor attention with directly accessible content.
  • Focus with time shifting from registrations prompts to immediate course acces for easy content eploration.
  • Course structure for unregistered smartphone users to allow rapid navigation and flexible content access.

For Higher Education Students:

  • Videos organized by topic for improved searchability and intuitive navigation, enabling users to quickly access specific subjects with one click.
  • Adding subtitles to videos to expand accessibility, supporting both Hungarian and international audiences.
